Aeros Racing partnered with the Museum of Science and Industry to teach Chicago kids the basics of aerodynamics through hands-on model car building.
The Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) is Chicago's largest science museum, built entirely around STEM — so when we saw a chance to bring hands-on engineering to their audience, we went straight to the source and reached out to MSI's CEO directly to pitch an educational event that would build real STEM skills in younger kids.
Get younger kids building and thinking about aerodynamics and engineering hands-on, at one of Chicago's most-visited science institutions.
We planned the full event ourselves, then put together and presented a talk on aerodynamics and engineering before teaching kids ages 4 to 14 how to build their own balloon- or rubber-band-powered model cars — letting them see the concepts we'd just explained come to life in their own hands.
We reached several dozen kids over a two-hour session, and MSI liked it enough to already ask us back for future events.
